The Regional Dance Centre offers support for dance artists working in the region: you can apply for grants  for dance pieces or events; find new contacts and collaborators; talk about and develop your ideas; participate in workshops and morning classes; discover and share information. 

 

Production subsidies, dance centre wage & production services

Associations, groups and individual dance artists can apply for grants from the Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia. The work, event or artistic output has to be realised in the region. Applications are accepted once a year. The deadline for applications is 8.1.2024 at 16.00. Decisions are made in January-February. 

Associations / groups can apply for production subsidies and individuals can apply for the dance centre wage.

Travel subsidies

Dance professionals in the region can apply for a travel subsidy, to help artists carry out their work. 

The application is freely formulated, and applications are accepted throughout the year. One person can be granted a max. of 300€ in travel subsidies per year. The travel subsidy does not cover international travel. Applications are emailed to the Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia: eleni.pierides@pohjanmaantanssi.fi

RECRUITING IN 2024

Performer in the project "Dance of the Fisherman"

OPEN CALL  2.-21.1.2024

During July 2024 Finnish dancer /choreographer Taneli Törmä and Irish theatre director Caroline McSweeney will make a Finnish version of their performance “Dance of the Fisherman” in three locations on the West coast. We will create a site-specific walking performance, to take place on the  islands of Bergö, Korpo and Hailuoto.

The project is a collaboration between the three coastal Regional Dance Centers: The Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia, JoJo – Oulu Dance Centre (The Regional Dance Centre of Northern Finland) and The Regional Dance Centre of Western Finland.

The project is looking for two dancers. A working contract is made with the regional dance centre to which one chooses to apply.

“Dance of the Fisherman” investigates the world of the fisherman through the stories of local fishermen/fisherwomen and their families. The Finnish version of the performance is funded by the three dance centers and Svenska Kulturfonden, Centre for Arts Promotion, Harry Schaumans Stiftelsen and Föreningen Konstsamfundet.

The job requires fluency in Finnish or Swedish. Rehearsal language will be English
. Rehearsals and performances take place on all three islands: Bergö, Korpo and Hailuoto.

We expect from you:

  • Interest in working outdoors.
  • Experience in working with text.

Practical information:

  • Working period: 1st – 31st of July 2024
  • Places of work: Bergö, Korpo and Hailuoto.
  • Rehearsals will be approx. 7 hours / day
  • Salary is 2640,31 e + 12 % holiday compensation
  • Per diems. Travel costs, accommodation.
